Miss Contestant #1 Vivianna Alvarez
Vivian is 16 years
old and is a junior at Valley Center High School. She is the daughter of Arturo
and Rocio Alvarez and has one sister and two brothers. She stands 5’4”,
has black hair, and brown eyes. She plays soccer and runs track and field. She
is part of the musical theater, the AVID program and dance program at school.
She loves to read, meet new people, go to amusement parks and stay physically
active. She wants to attend a 4 year university and travel as much as she can.
In ten years she sees herself as a dental hygienist and enjoying life with a
family. Her philosophy in life is always look at what you have left; never look
at what you have lost.

Miss Contestant #2 Laura Dangel
Laura is 15 years old and is a freshman at Valley Center High School. She is
the daughter of Maria and Dayton Dangel and has one brother. She stands 5’4”,
has brown hair and brown eyes. She belongs to interact club, academic league,
PB& J Wednesdays, her church youth group, and Valley Center Community Theater.
She enjoys performing in musicals, exercising, reading, attending plays, and
participates in numerous community service events. Her immediate plans are to
achieve a 4.0 this semester and become more involved in her community. In the
future she would like to perform on Boardway, attend a 4 year university and
possibly pursuing a medical career. Her philosophy in life is to live everyday
to the fullest, treat others as she herself would want to be treated and has
her Dad says “walk it, don’t just talk it”.

Miss Contestant #3 Larisa Lucero
Larisa is 16 years old and is in the 10th grade at Valley Center High School.
She is the daughter of Gina and Brian Puentes and has 4 brothers and 1 sister.
Larsia stands 5’ tall, has black hair and brown eyes. Her hobbies include
reading, American Sign Language and her special interest is exploring different
religions. Her immediate plans are to graduate from high school and hopefully
becoming the community’s representative. Her future plans are to become
an American Sign Language interpreter for different studies of religion. Her
goal is to be cultural rounded and be able to share it with others. In ten years
she sees herself on her career path and hopefully adopting from Moscow in Russia.
Her philosophy on life is to give so much time on the improvement of yourself
that you have no time to criticize others.

Miss Contestant #4 Brittney Usher
Brittney is 15 years old and is in 10th grade at Valley Center High School.
She is the daughter of Craig and Elizabeth Usher and has 1 brother and 1 sister.
Brittney stands 5’10”, has blonde hair and hazel eyes. She participates
in AVID and has been in Girl Scouts since kindergarten. Her hobbies include
playing tennis, assisting lower grades and riding quads. Her immediate plans
are graduating high school with a good GPA and start college. After graduating
from high school she would like to attend Palomar College. In ten years she
sees herself working towards becoming an elementary school teacher. Her philosophy
in life is there is always a good side to people you just have to find it.

Contestant #1 Darcy Gray
Darcy is 23 years old and is a senior at San Diego State University. She is
the daughter of Jim and Donna Gray and she has 2 brothers and one sister. Darcy
stands 5’2”, has blonde hair and hazel eyes. She belongs to Sigma
Alpha Lamda National Honor & Leadership society and is the co-community
leader of T.E.R.I.’s 4-H club peas’n carrots. Her hobbies include
reading, sailing, surfing, hot yoga, working out and just enjoying the California
Sunshine. Her immediate plans are to graduate with her BA in public administration
in May 2012 and take the MCAT in 2013. She works at T.E.R.I. Inc. In ten years
she sees herself being a successful doctor and being an accomplished happy woman
still living life to its fullest. Her philosophy in life is “She, who
attempts the absurd, can achieve the impossible”.

Contestant #2 Kaitlin Gates
Kaitlin is 18 years old and is a freshman at Palomar College. She is the daughter
of Kisha Gonzalez and Wayne Gates. Kaitlin stands 5’8”, has brown
hair and hazel eyes. She has been a girl scout since the 1st grade and has recently
started to take part in Core Team and retreat team at St. Stephen’s Church.
She enjoys coaching field hockey along with playing indoor soccer and spending
time with her family and friends. Her immediate plans are to finish her general
education at Palomar College and transfer to a 4 year university in order to
earn a kinesiology degree. In ten years she plans to be married, have a family
and a career as an athletic trainer at the youth or high school level. Her philosophy
in life is to have fun and live the life that God has planned for her.

Contestant #3 Allyson Crouthamel
Allyson is 17 years old and a senior at Valley Center High School. She is the
daughter of Kelly and Eric Crouthamel and has 1 brother. Allyson stands 5’6”,
has strawberry blonde hair and blue eyes. She belongs to the spirit club, cheerleading
and ASB at the high school. Her hobbies include dance, VCHS swim team, going
to Lake Havasu and off roading in the desert. Her immediate plans are to graduate
from high school and attend college. After graduating from high school she would
like to become a children’s psychologist and join the Peace Corps. In
ten years she sees herself finishing her MA degree in psychology, adopting a
child, and living in Valley Center with a happy family. Her philosophy in life
is a quote by Richard Bach "Here is a test to find out if your mission
in life is finished, if you’re alive it isn’t”.

Contestant #4 Maria Macovichuk
Maria is 17 years old and a senior at Valley Center High School. She is the
daughter of Jane Stratford and Bruce Macovichuk and has 6 brothers and 3 sisters.
Maria stands 5’4”, has brown hair and hazel eyes. She belongs to
many clubs including CSF, NHS, Interact club; Key Club, community service club,
and Girl Scouts. Her hobbies include tennis, drawing, giving and serving others.
Her immediate plans are to finish her Girl Scout Gold award as soon as possible.
After graduating from high school she would like to attend Palomar College.
In ten years she sees herself achieving her goals. Her favorite quote is “Be
who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don’t matter
and those who matter don’t mind”.

Contestant #5 Briana DeLessio
Briana is 19 years old and is a sophomore at Palomar College. She is the daughter
of John and Carol DeLessio. Briana stands 5’2”, has light brown
hair, and green eyes. She is a member of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. In her
spare time she enjoys dancing, snowboarding, horseback riding, hiking, yoga
and going to the beach. Her immediate plans are to go to Point Loma Nazarene
University to obtain her bachelors degree of Science in nursing. In ten years
she see herself as a successful individual that has found the man of her dreams
and has saved the lives of many newborn babies. Her philosophy in life is to
live life to the fullest. Say yes to any wholesome opportunity that will challenge
her in order to become successful, and then pass that success on to others.

Contestant #6 Kelsey Schwarz
Kelsey is 17 years old and is a senior at Valley Center High School. She is
the daughter of Bart and Betsy Schwarz and has one sister Lauren. Kelsey stands
5’6”, has light blonde hair, and has blue/green eyes. She is the
president of the Community Service Club which makes one hundred bag lunches
for the homeless every week. She enjoys cooking, singing, performing in musicals,
and photography. Her immediate plans for the future are to graduate high school,
attend Cal State San Marcos to major in liberal studies. In the future she plans
on graduating from college with a degree in education, get married, become an
elementary school teacher, and later a foster parent. Her philosophy in life
is “Be the change you want to see in the world”
